Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Why am I not receiving monthly emails from the Minnesota Section?
The Executive Committee sends out monthy email messages to members of the Minnesota Section, as well as its subsections and groups, during the September-.May. We use the ASME-National mailing system, which means that your email address MUST be up-to-date on the ASME National database.
But first, check the obvious... are our messages going into your spam or junk email folder? Our messages are sent from 'execcomm@asme-mn.org' and are generally titled 'ASME-MN Section Update'. If you find the messages there, adding the 'execcomm' address to your contacts list will generally allow the messages to go directly into your inbox.
You can change-update your email address on the ASME National database by doing the following...
- Go to my.asme.org and enter your email address. You will likely also need your membership number, which you can find on a membership statement, or call the ASME Information Central Customer Service at 800-843-2763.
- If you do not already have an online account set up, you will be asked for your name and membership number. Enter that information and you will proceed to the Manage Your Account page.
- If you already have an online account, you will be take directly to the Manage Your Account page.
- Update Your Address - Enter or update your "snail-mail" address. We will also use this address to send newsletters twice per year.
- Update Your "@ASME.org" Forwarding Alias - If you would like to create an email address with the asme.org domain, click on this option.
- Update Primary E-mail Address - This MUST be set to email address you wish to use to receive our communications.
- Manage Your E-mail Preferences - Chose the technical divisions you wish to receive email messages from.
That should do it. If you still don't receive our emails, send a note to the 'webmaster@asme-mn.org'. Include your name, membership number, and email address and state that you are not receiving the mopnthly listserv messages. We will take up the problem with the IT people at the National Office.
