Tour & Technical Discussion

MEDRAD Interventional/Possis

6:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Join us tour and technical discussion at MEDRAD Interventional/Possis.

MEDRAD Interventional/Possis designs and manufactures a line of Thrombectomy Catheters used for removing thrombus (blood clots) from blood vessels.  These unique catheters utilize a high pressure (8,000 to 12,000 psi) saline jet stream directed through orifices in distal tip of the catheter shaft. These jets generate a localized low-pressure zone (Bernoulli Effect) that results in thrombus entrainment and fragmentation.  These jets also provide the driving force that evacuates the thrombus particles through the catheter and out of the body.  MEDRAD Interventional/Possis also designs and manufactures aspiration catheters and vascular occlusion devices.

There will be a technical talk on the mechanics of operation of a thrombectomy catheter followed by a demonstration.  This will be followed by a tour that will show some of the R&D and manufacturing capability.
